As you’ve probably noticed, I haven’t been updating my blog lately….naughty Francis. It’s not that I don’t want to; it’s more that when I try to write something it ends up being a novel instead of something that’s short and sweet. This probably isn’t a bad thing really; it means that I’m able to include all my lovely experiences and share them all with you. However, this now means I have 4 or 5 blogs which I have started writing, but not completed. Most cover maybe the first day or two of each, and lots, I mean lots (maybe too much) detail. I shall now attempt to do the impossible and write a short but tastefully sweet statement on each of the pre-started blogs (wish me luck!)
Tefl Training, Koh Chang - September/October 2011
Tefl Heaven (literally), learning how to become a TEFL teacher, and the amazing group of people who I got to meet, and share some crazy experiences with!
Fullmoon Party, Koh Phangan - December 2011
Pretty epic time, Phangan is a wonderful place with so many secluded spots and pretty scenery/beaches. It’s also where I had the pleasure of seeing two sunrises in the same day and a lunar eclipse during the crazy beach party with around 15,000 others.
Christmas, Trang - December 2011
A really great few days on the beach with lovely friends, great views and a splendid but rather random Christmas dinner (A whole fish, fried rice, stir-fried veg, curry, squid…not your normal turkey and Aunt Bessie’s for sure).
New Years, Koh Phi Phi - December 2011/January 2012
This one wasn’t my cup of tea. Fancied a nice relaxing time on one of my favourite islands…ended up staying slap bang in the middle of town (party central), sharing my sleeping quarters with bed bugs, until I retreated and slept in a chair outside (I’m still paranoid about the little buggers).
Long Weekend, Koh Phangan - January 2012
A wonderful weekend, which consisted primarily of staying in my hammock, a small amount of swimming and more rest (a well deserved rest).
Chiang Mai - January 2012
A very different, but none the less, a very exciting week. Started with a straight 30hour trip (12 of those horrid hours on a 3rd class train, and another 5 broken down somewhere on the side of the road), and ended with 12 hours sat next to a monk on a different bus to what I had pre-booked (they failed to mention Chiang Mai has more than one bus terminal). Other than that the bits in the middle were fantastic! Got to meet up with Hannah & Tobes, go on a 3 day jungle trek, swim in numerous waterfalls, make many new French friends, and learn how to cook some of Thailand’ tastiest food (which is really simple by the way).
So there you go; I finally managed to get through almost 5 months worth of news in one small post. These are some of the bigger weekends, but there have also been so many more that have been shared with some pretty epic friends that I met out here…you know who you are! They’ve included rainy weekends in Khanom, parties in Thungsong (Lonely Planet you need to update your books; so much goes on in this small place!), and the odd weekend in Surat.
I feel like I’ve blabbered on too much already. So I’ll do the moral thing and save you from any more torture….for now!
There’s more to come (I actually promise this time), and it will come in due course (about 3 months from now :p) so sit tight, and try to contain your excitement.
